• JBL Professional IRX series portable loudspeakers

JBL Professional will debut the IRX Series of polypropylene portable loudspeakers at the 2020 NAMM Show in Anaheim (California, USA).

Models in the series include the 8" IRX108BT and 12" IRX112BT, both driven by an onboard amplifier designed to deliver 1,300 peak watts. The IRX112BT has a stated frequency range down to 53 Hz and maximum SPL of 129 dB at 1m, while the nominal frequency response for the IRX108BT extends down to 54 Hz with a maximum SPL of 127 dB at 1m. Coverage is 90º (horizontal) x 60º (vertical) nominal.

Features include three custom EQ presets ('music', 'vocal' and 'speech'), automatic feedback suppression, switchable bass boost and a ducking button that lowers music volume when speech input is detected. Also onboard are two combo XLR/TRS inputs with preamps and one-button Bluetooth connectivity to stream audio from mobile devices or link two loudspeakers. Unlike many 'affordable' powered speakers, each units seems to have both Bluetooth reception and emission, which allows for stereo wireless playback or sending the audio from one enclosure to another.

Ergonomic handles help in lifting and transporting the light weight cabinets. A custom grille has a tight-gauge, reinforced honeycomb pattern with a specially designed bevel. Both models have an integrated pole mount.

“Today’s performers need a portable, easy-to-use PA system that delivers professional results at an affordable price,” states Brandon Knudsen, loudspeaker product manager, HARMAN Professional Solutions. “We’re excited to showcase our new IRX Series loudspeakers at the 2020 NAMM and CES shows, which combine impressive volume output and detail with an assortment of versatile features like Bluetooth audio streaming in a compact, lightweight design. Best of all, the IRX112BT and IRX108BT are the most affordable powered speakers JBL has ever offered.”

The new JBL IRX108BT ($299 plus tax) and IRX112BT ($349 plus tax) are available now.
