• Apex to present new amps and firmware at ISE 2022

Apex will be presenting two new CloudPower four-channel amplifiers next week at Integrated Systems Europe (booth 7K200, 10-13 May). The 4x1,500W CP1504 and 4x3,000W CP3004 reportedly extend the potential applications for CloudPower to encompass sports stadiums, live venues, theatres, upscale houses of worship and more. Both amplifiers can be monitored and controlled remotely from any device via Apex Cloud, allowing integrators to make adjustments without the need for a site visit and creating opportunities for value-added remote monitoring services.

“ISE 2022 marks the completion of the first phase of our CloudPower rollout,” explains APEX managing director, Paul Van Hees. “We had requests for higher powered models from the outset, but we took the tough decision to hold back the availability of CP1504 and CP3004 while we made further investment in our supply chain and manufacturing capability. We’re now ready with all four CloudPower models, a firmware release that’s packed with valuable user-requested features, and plenty of exciting future CloudPower developments just over the horizon.”

Apex will also showcase the CloudPower V1.2 firmware release at the show, including additions to the IntelliCloud remote WebUI. Among the standout new IntelliCloud features are a mixer facility offering 10 inputs for each amplifier channel, plus a built-in signal generator to assist with system setup and troubleshooting.

With the release of V1.2 firmware, CloudPower amplifiers can be controlled over a network using the UDP protocol, allowing greater integration with third party control systems such as AMX® and Crestron®. The new firmware further extends the depth of control accessible from the amplifier’s ‘one knob’ front panel UI, including hands-on access to parametric EQ, crossover, limiter, signal generator, and mixer functions, permitting fast configuration and easy operation. V1.2 also introduces new and enhanced tools for managing speaker presets.

Constant voltage systems (70V, 100V lines)

Constant voltage, high impedance or line transformer systems are often a somewhat confusing concept for professionals used to rock and roll. They are actually very simple to design, among other things because they are intended to be installed by electricians and the like, with little experience in sound systems. In this article we will try to clarify the simple concepts needed to understand this type of system.... Read more
