• Pioneer DJ launches XPRS2 speaker series

AlphaTheta Corporation (formerly Pioneer DJ Corporation) announces the release of the self-powered XPRS2 Speaker Series from its Pioneer DJ brand, comprising of two full range models (10 and 12") as well as two subwoofers (15 and 18").

All models feature Class-D amplification, with 2000 reported peak watts for the satellites and 4000W for the subs. All models are constructed from black plywood, with handles (one metal bar-type for the 2-ways, two pocket handles for the subs) and rubber feet. They all have 35mm mast receptacles and M10 threaded inserts.

The XPRS102 pairs a 10” woofer and 2.5” voice coil with a 1” exit compression driver and 1.75” voice coil, achieving a nominal maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 129 dB at 1m and frequency response of 50 Hz–20 kHz, while the XPRS122 is the larger full-range speaker counterpart in the XPRS2 Series, housing a 12” woofer and 3” voice coil with a 1” exit compression driver and 1.75” voice coil. Frequency response is 48 Hz–20 kHz, with a maximum SPL of 131 dB.

The two full-range systems feature four DSP Modes (Live, Music, Speech, and Floor Monitor) and 16 sustomizable user DSP Modes. With respect to connectivity, there are two channels, one with a mic/line combo input and a hiZ/line combo input. A stereo channel via a 1/8" connector is also provided. Individual level controls are provided for the channels, as well as a master control.

As far as the XPRS2 subwoofers, the XPRS1152S provides a frequency response of 45 Hz – 120 Hz and a maximum SPL of 129 dB, while the XPRS1182S offers a 40 Hz – 120 Hz frequency response and 130 dB maximum SPL. When it comes to transducers, the XPRS1152S employs a 15” ferrite woofer with a 3” voice coil, while the larger XPRS1182S relies on an 18” ferrite woofer, also with a 3” coil.

Both of the XPRS2 subwoofers contain three different DSP preset modes – Boost, Extended LF, and Normal – to suit different listening environments, as well as switchable crossover points (80, 100 and 120 Hz) and polarity reversal. They also feature two combo inputs and two XLR outputs, as well as a volumen control.
