• dBTechnologies introduces Opera series Reevo models

dBTechnologies, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and opened US subsidiary dBTech USA out of Miami last January, will present two new self-powered 'point source' models within its Opera series family (although with little to do with the existing models) under the sub-series name Reevo (derived from 'revolution') tomorrow at NAMM.

With the peculiar appearance of their polypropylene enclosure (even more so without the grille), Opera Reevo 210 and Opera Reevo 212 "develop a high sound pressure level and outstanding low-frequency extension in a compact and completely revamped cabinet design", the Italian brand claims.

Its configuration is 'quasi 3-way' (of the two bass cones, one handles bass and midrange and the other bass only). One of them is coaxial, with a 1.75" coil compression driver and integrating a unique horn with diamond-shaped side perforations and central teardrop-shaped protrusions. A phase corrector is also used for the other cone, which is said to improve transient response and overall transducer performance. The nominal dispersion is 100°x80° and 100°x90° for the 212 and 210 models, respectively.

The reflex ports are integrated into the front moulding and use an internal honeycomb structure to help minimise airflow turbulence.

Both models are equipped with DigiPro G2 Class D amplifiers that develop a combined power output of 1050W RMS and 2100W (1050W + 1050W) peak, with digital processing features including FIR filtering with linear phase. In addition, Opera Reevo features presets including one for floor monitoring and others to function as a stand-alone PA system.

As for the rear panel, it's quite minimalist, with a combo input (XLR+1/4") and an XLR output for linking, plus a rotary volume control and a mode switch (flat, playback and floor monitor).

The multi-angle shape facilitates use as a stage wedge, and an integrated 36mm receptacle can be used with a pole on a subwoofer or speaker tripod. It can also be suspended thanks to its 3 M10 attachment points, making this system suitable for permanent installation.

Both cabinets have compact dimensions, with a nominal peak SPL at 1m of 132.5 dB (Reevo 210) and 133 dB (Reevo 212) as well as 2 Neodymium speakers (10" for Reevo 210 and 12" for Reevo 212) and a 1.75" coaxial compression driver. In terms of weight, we are at 17.2 kg / 37 lbs (210) and 20.4 kg / 44 lbs (212).
