• BASSBOSS unveils the Makara-MK3 Double 21″ Powered Subwoofer

BASSBOSS Makara-mk3 subwooferBassboss announces the release of the Makara-MK3 double 21” powered subwoofer. The Makara shares much of its DNA with the Bassboss Kraken Quad-21” Powered Subwoofer. The Makara-MK3 is said to be engineered to deliver a flat response to the profound depth of 23Hz.

Like the Kraken Subwoofer, the Makara-MK3 provides impact delivered by the short-horn loading of the fronts of the cones, says the brand. The Makara shares the footprint of the Kraken, and offers increased portability and versatility by being significantly smaller and more manageable.

The Makara-MK3 achieves a nominal maximum sustained output of 143 dB SPL at 1 meter in a half-space (ground plane) environment, with a peak SPL of 146 dB. The 21” transducers feature 4.5” aluminium voice coils and Neodymium motors.

Each transducer is driven by a discrete amplifier. Their combined output has the potential to deliver 5000 Watts to the two drivers. Integrated with the amplification package is a DSP said to include the “secret sauce” of the Bassboss line, the extensive proprietary processing by Designer David Lee. High-pass and low-pass filters, equalization and limiting are in place for optimized r4esponses as well as interoperability with all Bassboss loudspeakers and subwoofers.

A waterproof (IP65 rated) Neutrik powerCON True 1 TOP connector provides power input connection, fed from a standard US 3-pin 120V electrical plug (NEMA 5-15). Signal input and pass-through connectors are XLR. LAN connectivity for ControlBASS software is via 2 internally switch-linked EtherCON RJ45 data connectors.

The Makara-MK3 is built from 18 mm marine-grade Birch plywood. The cabinet measures 48” x 28” x 36” and is finished in black, textured, bonded, high-pressure polyurea coating. 35mm pole sockets are provided on all 4 sides. Four steel bar handles and UHMWPE sliders ease setup. The Makara-MK3 sliders interlock with each other, and with the Kraken, providing the ideal building blocks for “a wall of bass.”

The Makara-MK3 is the latest embodiment of Bassboss’s commitment to facilitating unforgettable experiences through powerful yet practical products that provide loudspeakers for thrill seekers.

The Bassboss Makara-MK3 Double 21″ Powered Subwoofer will be available in late March.
