• DM6 kick drum microphone from Earthworks

DM6 kick drum microphone from EarthworksEarthworks has launched the DM6 'SeisMic', a supercardioid condenser microphone designed for kick drums and bass amps in both live and studio applications and said to "sound perfect right out of the box for those situations when you don’t have enough time for a proper soundcheck". Because, if you look at the frequency response of the bottom of this news, you can see a very coloured response with a wide mid-bass valley, which responds to the plug-and-play philosophy of this microphone, very much unlike what the brand has championed from its start (flat responses).

Housed in a stainless steel body with black windscreen, the DM6 measures 12.6 x 4.9 cm (4.97x 1.93", including the windscreen). It has nominal sensitivity of -60 dBV/Pa (1 mV/Pa) and self-noise (A-weighted) of 20 dBSPL-A, and it requires 48V phantom power.

The DM6 ships with a Triad-Orbit M2-R ball mount for placement. It is designed to complement the existing Earthworks drum line, and at this time, will be sold as a separate SKU and will not be part of the company’s DK7 drum mic kit.

“Speed is the reason that Earthworks is out on the road with every A-list engineer and top tour,” says Mike Dias, VP of sales. “And speed is what separates the new DM6 kick drum microphone from everything else. You can hear it instantly especially through the PA and through the subs. It’s all attack and hit —without any of the smear. The DM6 is the new industry standard for kick drum microphones. It simply stomps!”
