• Aviom adds intercom update for A640 personal mixer

Aviom, manufacturer of personal monitoring solutions, has announced that it has just released a major update for its flagship A640 Personal Mixer and D800 series of A-Net Distributor products.

Enhancing the A640 Personal Mixer’s powerful feature set, the latest update introduces two new Intercom modes—Party Line and Grouped. Party Line Mode allows up to eight performers to communicate interactively over the Aviom network whenever the A640 is used with Aviom’s D800 A-Net Distributor products. With a single button press, performers can activate their local intercom channel to share production and feedback with each other using the A640’s built-in mic or an external mic connected to the Aviom network, all without removing earbuds or headphones.

Meant for rehearsals, recording sessions, or show setups, Grouped Mode allows one or more users to activate a predefined set of up to eight A640 Intercoms simultaneously. Communication at rehearsals, recording sessions, and live performances is now reportedly easier, more intuitive, and more interactive.

The new Intercom features are complemented by a redesigned Intercom window that allows users to see which performers’ mics are active in the Intercom on the A640’s full-color display.

Also included in this release is Aviom’s 2-level (Low–High) Ambience function. This allows the user to set a low-level ambience that adds a bit of “air” to the mix, then go to a louder ambience level that allows interaction with the audience or congregation.

According to Carl Bader, Aviom’s Co-Founder and CEO, “This exciting firmware release is another step in Aviom’s commitment to keeping our A640/D800 personal mixing system the most advanced personal monitoring mixing platform in the world.

This release is one of many planned for the next few years that will continue to give consultants and system designers the ability to provide advanced features, unique to personal monitoring, to their customers, all while keeping these features easy and intuitive for performers to use.”

The free A640 firmware download also includes a required firmware update for the touring-class D800 and D800-Dante A-Net Distributors that work together with the A640 Personal Mixer to create and manage the Intercom feature set. The downloadable firmware file is user-installable from a USB flash drive and is available now on the Aviom website.

As the flagship model of Aviom’s personal mixer product line, the A640 is said to set a new standard with 'unparalleled' user control and customization, a streamlined interface, and new features tailored to meet the diverse needs of performers.
